Our Experience

Established in 1984, Veterinary Hospitals Association (VHA) is a member-driven association organized to represent the interests of members and the veterinary community. VHA currently serves nearly 400  member veterinary practices.

The goal of VHA is to enhance the profitability of each member practice by positively impacting its bottom line. With member involvement, VHA will continue to offer services that either save money or make money for all members.

VHA supports local community organizations, including the statewide Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA). VHA also partners with MVMA and the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine for the Minnesota Veterinary Institute.

2016 VHA TeamThe Growth of VHA

A group of dedicated veterinarians founded VHA to improve the methods and efficiency of animal hospitals, to cooperate with other veterinary organizations, and to promote and further the best interests of its members.

  • 1985 - VHA began a group purchasing service for members, positively influencing the product availability and pricing in the veterinary marketplace.
  • 1986 - A pet cremation service was launched to provide a dignified, caring and ethical means of cremating clients’ pets. It is one of the founding cornerstones of our association.
  • As VHA evolved over the years, additional services have been added, taking advantage of the efficiencies that come from individual practices joining together as a group.

Ethical Cremation

A Cremation Service Started By Veterinarians

VHA’s cremation services were started by veterinarians to provide a dignified, clean, reliable and respectful method of handling deceased pets. We strive to provide you a quality service that you can rely on. Multiple check-point systems are in place to ensure that the animals are processed exactly to the client’s wishes.  We have offered this service to hundreds of veterinary hospitals since 1986. We developed this service to help you, the clinic, to provide a smooth process for your clients.

Dignified and Caring Service for Your Customers

When your customers and clients lose a pet companion, they deserve the highest level of compassion, service, and care. As their trusted experts and doctors, your customers are looking for the appropriate levels of respect and service for the final care that their devoted pet deserves. The care and sensitivity exhibited by the VHA is an important part of our pet cremation services.

For more than 20 years, VHA has provided a dignified, caring and reliable cremation service, owned and supervised by member veterinarians. This service allows veterinarians to transition their clients through the loss of their pet. VHA recognizes that pets are members of the family, and the loss of a pet can be very difficult. Our multiple checkpoint system ensures that the cremation of each animal meets the owner's wishes.

Cremation Options Available to Our Members

Group Cremation – In group cremation, pets are cremated together and the cremains are not returned to the owner. The cremains are buried off site.

Separate Cremations –
In separate cremation, the pets are separated in the retort by space (2-3 feet). The cremains are returned to the owner through the clinic/practice. A range of urns and containers are available for purchase.

VHA offers its members a range of resources dealing with pet loss, grief, and bereavement. Resources include books, literature and referral organizations.
