These suggestions are pawsitively certain to generate some buzz on your socials!

Preventative Reminder:

No need to explain the importance of monthly preventatives to the professionals, but clients sometimes need reminders!

Post Suggestion: Monthly preventatives are crucial in the summer months! If you need a refill or a new prescription, let us know.

Adopt-a-Shelter Cat Month:

As veterinary professionals, we are well aware of what June usually brings - and that is an overabundance of kittens. June is designated at Adopt-A-Shelter Cat Month, and it is a great time to remind your clients that if they consider bringing in a new feline friend, shelters and rescue groups are an excellent place to start! If you have a good relationship with your local animal shelter or cat rescue group, see if you can feature some of their adoptable cats on your social media! Want to take it a step further? Offer a special freebie or discount for anyone who adopts a cat this summer!

Post Suggestion: It's Adopt-A-Shelter-Cat Month! If you are considering adding a feline friend to your family soon, we would like to remind you that shelters and rescue groups are a fantastic place to start! Spring and early summer are often known as kitten season, and there is sure to be a special feline (or two, cats do great in pairs!) at the shelter waiting to be your new best friend!

Pet Appreciation Week (June 6-12):

There are so many options for celebrating Pet Appreciation Week! Celebrating all week long with special posts, contests, and giveaways will not only excite your existing clients but could also help bring new clients in at the chance to win something neat! Our favorite contest idea is to have clients like the post for one entry, upload a photo of their pet a second entry, and share the post for a third entry. Allow the post to collect likes, comments, and shares during Pet Appreciation Week, and announce some winners (or a winner) at the end of the week! Be sure to set clear parameters for how many winners there will be, what the prizes are, and when and how winners will be announced. Wheel of Names is a great way to help you pick a winner(s)!

Don't want to host a contest yourself? The Minnesota Animal Health Foundation has you covered! Here are the details. Keep in mind that MNAHF has a deadline of June 3, so you will need to share the contest before Pet Appreciation Week so that your clients can enter to win! Check out the MNAHF Facebook page for a post to share, too.

Post Suggestion: Happy Pet Appreciation Week! We know you appreciate them all year round, but this week, it's official! How do you plan to celebrate your pet this week?

Father's Day (June 20):

Celebrate all those Doggie Daddies, Human Fathers, and Kitty Poppas! Dads are superheroes, and this post celebrates them in all their glory!

Post Suggestion: Thanks for being our superheroes. Happy Father's Day!

National Selfie Day (June 21):

3, 2, 1, CHEESE! Selfies are great fun, and almost every pet owner has a selfie or two with their pet hiding on their phone. Celebrate National Selfie Day with selfies! While you can share this graphic for Selfie Day, you could also snap a couple of staff selfies to upload instead. Your clients LOVE you and your staff, and seeing your selfies might encourage clients to share their own as well!

Post Suggestion: It's National Selfie Day! We know you have a couple of cute ones with your pet, and we want to see them! Show off your pet selfies down below!

Microchips are so important for reuniting lost pets with their owners! VHA has even done some of the hard work for you and has this great resource free for you to use!

Did you know that June 14 is Blood Donor Day? When people think about blood donation, they rarely think about their furry friends. Every day, an immeasurable number of pets need blood transfusions, and pet blood can be hard to come by. Use your blog to explain why blood could be needed, what animals qualify for donations, and how your clients can help!

Additional Tips:

Links, links, and more links! While finding an interesting article and linking it to share on your Facebook page seems like a good idea in theory, did you know that it might be affecting your ability to reach your clients on social media? The Facebook algorithm can be tricky, but one thing is certain - Facebook wants users to stay on Facebook. Avoid being outshined by other businesses, and make sure you are switching up the types of content you are posting. We suggest no more than 1 or 2 outside links a month and plenty of photos from inside your clinic to get your followers clicking that like button and making comments! If you have questions about owning the algorithm and using it to work to your advantage, This email address is being protected from spambots. ChrisChris' Website Wisdom:

Dogs can't even read - who cares about my website!? Perhaps that's a bit dramatic, but if your website feels like an afterthought, or worse yet, you still don't have a website, it's important to understand how your business is impacted. According to a recent study, 97% of consumers go online to find a local business, and 75% of consumers admit to making judgments about a company's credibility based on their website. Your website is your 24/7 digital business card, provides credibility, and makes that all-important first impression.

VHA provides free consultations to our members who are looking to build new websites or perhaps just a website "refresh." We can create for you a custom-made, mobile-friendly website that showcases what your practice has to offer, helps to serve your clients better, and can attract new ones. We offer very competitive pricing for web design which also counts toward members' year-end rebates!
