Preventative Reminder (and a bonus!)
Kick off the month right with a reminder that preventative measures are a year-round effort! The first week of October is also Walk Your Dog Week, which may or may not have been started by dogs as a ploy to get more walkies.
Pro tip: Elaborate on Walk Your Dog Week by highlighting some great parks in your area to encourage owners to get out and explore with their pooch!
Post Suggestion: Can you believe it is already October?! Raise your hand if you are ready for #SpookySeason! Don’t forget to give your pet their preventatives this month and get your dog out for some special walks in honor of #WalkYourDogWeek!
We were all hopeful during the surge of adoptions of pandemic pups. However, reports are showing that dogs are being returned to shelters at astonishing rates. This gentle reminder for your followers that there are awesome companions waiting for their forever homes at area shelters and rescues.
Pro Tip: Use this month to highlight some local dogs looking for a home! Contact your local shelter to see if they can help you write some bios and provide some adorable photos. At the very least, your existing clients should feel compelled to share these posts in an effort to assist with your mission!
Post Suggestion: If you have been considering a new friend, they might be hanging out at the local shelter waiting to meet you! If your home is full, please consider sharing information about local dogs waiting on their forever home- you could save a life! #AdoptADogMonth

Laura's Social Snippet:
I know you’re thinking “Hey! You forgot to mention one of the most important observances in October, Vet Tech Appreciation Week!”. Well, look no further!
The theme for this year’s Vet Tech Appreciation Week, which was created by the National Association of Veterinary Technicians of America, is “Who We Are When the Stethoscopes Come Off”. This theme is PERFECT for paying tribute to your fantastic Technician team on social media, highlighting who your technicians are outside of the clinic. This will give your clients a reminder that the clinic is comprised of people who require patience, respect, and compassion. Internally, this theme is great for promoting self-care in the clinic. More ideas can be found here: https://www.navta.net/page/nat_vet_tech
Suggested Social: Feature each technician on social media to give clients the opportunity to celebrate them too! Make a short questionnaire for them to fill out that includes some more fun personal questions such as their favorite color, activities outside of work, their families, pets, etc. Your clients love and trust your team, and will be excited to wish them a happy week and learn more about who they are.
