Accountant

Veterinary Hospitals Association (VHA) is looking to add a newly created Accountant position who will take responsibility of all aspects of our financial reporting.  We are a not-for-profit organization, that provides support for our veterinary professional members.  Are you looking for a position that each day can see you doing something different?  As part of VHA, you will be doing just that, we are here to support our members and one another and your day will reflect that.  We have lots of fun and work hard so we can focus on a good work life balance.

In your role as an Accountant, I you will also provide information and guidance to the field regarding accounting practices and procedures, reconciling and analyzing general ledger accounts and performing related work, as required. You will have contact with employees at all levels in the organization. External contacts include vendors, operating companies, and banks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monthly reconciliations
  • Prepare accurate, timely monthly financial statements
  • Prepare annual budget, monitors monthly
  • Primary contact for bank, insurance, and benefits vendors
  • Performs various accounting duties and projects as assigned
  • Assisting members with monthly financials
  • Completing analysis and reporting for our members
  • Expense coding and reporting
  • Vendor management (organization-wide)
  • Quarterly tax filing
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate degree in accounting, finance degree or equivalent work experience, CPA is a bonus
  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience
  • Attention to detail
  • Accounting background
  • Familiarity with balance sheets and P&L statements
  • Clear and diplomatic communication skills
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks and Sage 100

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Competitive salary $65,000-$80,000
