Double the Speakers, Double the Tracks, Double the Learning
Ethan Dawe, the founder of Innovative Financial Solutions, LLC, and Dr. Michelle Harcha, DVM, MA, owner of LeadYourShip, will be leading two tracks this year, one focused on finance and the other on emotional intelligence.
- 3:00 – 3:30 PM: Opening Kick-off
- 3:30 – 5:30 PM: Room Check-in and Activities
- 5:30 PM: Social Hour
- 6:30 PM: Dinner
Track One - Finance with Ethan Dawe
8:00 – 11:50 AM: Veterinary Practice Assessment: Financial and Protocols Health Check
Ethan Dawe will help practices assess their finances and internal protocols. He’ll start by going over the documents you’ll need to make the assessment and what areas you should focus on first. Then, he’ll review a real case study and provide an in-depth analysis, help you determine what the #1 headache is in your clinic, provide instruction on how to improve your hiring process and develop existing employees, as well as provide a review of the biggest problems in veterinary practices and how you can improve on them in your practice.
- Discuss common-sense solutions to problems that harm morale and stagnate growth within your practice, offering several specific takeaway directives to implement right away.
- Learn how to gain an understanding of important financial reports.
- Gain actionable ideas to improve your practice.
- Learn how to identify when changes are needed and gain the confidence to start taking steps.
Track Two – Emotional Intelligence with Dr. Michelle Harcha
8:00 AM: Know Thyself: Emotional Intelligence Begins with Understanding Yourself
Leaders who understand and use emotional intelligence will create a more productive and healthier veterinary workplace. This session will explore the emotional intelligence domain of self-awareness. Outstanding leadership begins with you. Everyone is a leader that makes an impact in the workplace. What kind of an impact are you making? One of the most valuable frameworks to improve leadership is through the domains of emotional intelligence identified by Daniel Goleman, Ph.D. and Richard Boyatzis, Ph.D.: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management. Within these four domains are 12 specific competencies or skills that can be learned to increase your understanding and mastery of emotional intelligence. The competencies are emotional self-awareness, emotional self-control, achievement orientation, positive outlook, adaptability, empathy, organizational awareness, influence, coach and mentor, conflict management, inspirational leadership, and teamwork. This session explores the emotional intelligence domain of self-awareness and the leadership competency of emotional self-awareness.
