October: Adopt A Dog Month

One silver lining we can take from this global pandemic is the fact that pet adoptions and volunteer foster-parents have skyrocketed since February. People working from home, coupled with the pleas of local shelters and rescues for help during this time, has led to widespread reports of clear shelters. However, there are still plenty of pets still looking for homes! Consider featuring adoptable dogs from a local rescue or shelter on your page this month and mention any discounts or specials that you run for newly adopted pets!

Suggested Post: October is Adopt a Dog Month! Can you imagine snuggling up with a pup while it snows this December? What about sharing a bite of Thanksgiving turkey with a truly thankful new friend? If you have been considering adding a new dog to your family, this month is the perfect time to do so! Adoptions have been on the rise since the beginning of the pandemic, but there are plenty of pooches out there looking for loving homes!

October 9: Pet Obesity Day

As veterinary professionals, we see overweight and obese patients every day. We fully understand the ramifications of poor diet and exercise on pets, but sometimes owners do not truly understand why a couple of extra pounds here and there is not ideal. Pet Obesity Awareness Day is a great opportunity to remind your followers that even our pets must battle the bulge.

Suggested Post: While we often find ourselves giggling at portly pooches and chunky cats on the internet, but the truth is that even a couple pounds of extra weight can cause health issues in our pets. Five extra pounds of body weight might seem to be a silly thing to worry about - but in a small pet, it could be the equivalent of carrying around an extra 50 pounds! Pet Obesity Awareness Day is the perfect time to assess your pet's body condition to see if a diet and added exercise routine might be in order. If you are having trouble with the battle of the bulge in your pet, give us a call today to schedule your next appointment!

October 11-17: National Veterinary Technician Week

Where would we be without those life-saving Vet Techs?! This year has been trying on so many levels - and our Veterinary Technicians deserve some kindness and recognition! We love the idea of featuring each technician at your practice individually so that the clients that know them can thank them as well! If you have a large staff, consider group photos!

Suggested Post: Our Veterinary Technicians are the backbone of our practice. This week is National Veterinary Technician Appreciation Week, and we want everyone to know how much we value and care about these integral members of our clinic! We would like to say the biggest THANK YOU to our team!

October 17: National Fetch Day

Like we need an excuse to play a good round of fetch!

Suggested Post: Happy National Fetch Day! Whether you play indoors or outdoors, with a canine or feline, today is a great day to spend a little extra time playing fetch!

Is your dog a little confused about the concept of fetch? You are not alone! Many dog owners are familiar with the game of throw the ball and chase the dog around while repeating "drop it!" like some sort of miracle mantra. Another common game you may know is where you throw the toy, and your dog watches you fetch it. While some dogs take to fetch easily, some need a little extra guidance! October 24: Pit Bull Awareness Day

Support your Pit Bull owning clients and help dispel negative rumors about those adorable house-seals and snuggle monsters! If your clinic feels strongly about educating others, consider busting up rumors about "locking jaws" and shed some light on the exploitation of Pit Bull loyalty and strength by humans.

Suggested Post: Pit Bulls are a classification of dogs that are truly misunderstood. As with any dog, bully breeds make excellent companions given the proper socialization and training. We absolutely love our Pit Bull patients! Let us see those adora-BULL pitties in the comments below!
