We will outline some (un)common feline cases that are not uncommon in a feline-centric practice. Historical, physical, diagnostic, and therapeutic approaches will be discussed in these exemplary cases.

We will discuss the physiological and clinical aspects of pain management in feline medicine
with considerations on practical multi-modal clinical pain management in cats.

We will describe the epidemiology, diagnosis, and clinical syndrome of Dirofilaria immitis infection in the feline. We will also discuss some of the newer concepts of heartworm diagnosis as well as heartworm associated respiratory disease.

Attend the Seminar, which will begin at 9:00 am (central), from anywhere you have an internet connection! Choose the "online" option during registration and you will be emailed a secure link to attend the live session on the day of the seminar. Only the registrant has access with this link as the attendees are monitored and must sign-in with their name and email address. The registrant is also the only one eligible for the CE credits associated with the Seminar.
What will you experience: Once you have accessed the Seminar your computer screen will be dominated with a direct-feed PowerPoint for clarity of viewing, plus the audio of the presenter as the slides automatically advance on your screen. A small video window on the side of your screen will show the presenter. During the live Q&A session you are able to submit questions.
Dr. W. Mark Cousins, received his DVM degree from Louisiana State University in 1980. After obtaining his DVM degree, he spent an additional two years obtaining post-graduate training courses encompassing strategic business skills and planning at the Veterinary Management Institute at the Krannert School of Business at Purdue University. He received his boards in feline medicine from the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in 2000, recertified again in 2010, and a third time in 2019. Additionally, he received certification in veterinary acupuncture from the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society as well as certification in pain management from the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management (IVAS). He opened his first veterinary hospital Chateau Veterinary Hospital, in 1983 and sold it in 2013. He started New Orleans’ first feline practice in 1987 and practices there exclusively. This practice, The Cat Practice, won a Veterinary Economics Hospital of Merit Award in September 2005. He has lectured nationally and internationally for several pharmaceutical corporations such as Zoetis, Elanco, Merial, Idexx and others. Dr. Cousins has served on several boards such as the Southeast Louisiana Veterinary Association, Louisiana SPCA, and was Feline Exam chair of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. He is currently on the Board of Directors of the American Heartworm Society and represents feline medicine in this organization. His knowledge and passion towards feline medicine make him an excellent role model and resource for other small animal practitioners interested in the feline portion of their practices.
