Veterinary Hospitals Association is a not-for-profit organization that has been supporting the needs of veterinary clinic members in the Midwest for over 39 years. We are looking for a fantastic Delivery Driver to join our growing team!
Delivery Drivers are integral team members at VHA. They are the face of our association and meet with members on a daily basis providing essential services for both the members and VHA.
An ideal candidate for the VHA Delivery Driver position will:
- Possess driving experience with knowledge of greater Twin Cities area; able to read and comprehend maps.
- Read tags and paperwork, both handwritten and typewritten.
- Write words and numbers legibly and accurately.
- Possesses a high degree of customer service to accommodate needs of customers.
- Have strong interpersonal communication skills to interact effectively with customers, including problem solving as needed.
- Be self-motivated and able to work unsupervised, make routine decisions and solve routine problems effectively and independently.
- Be mentally and emotionally handle the task of picking up and transporting deceased animals.
- Pay great attention to detail; able to organize truck and deliver merchandise efficiently.
- Possess good judgment, basic decision-making, and common sense.
- Understand and adhere to safety requirements especially relating to safe lifting protocol.
VHA Delivery Drivers must also be able to:
- Sit/drive for long periods in driving position.
- Drive safely and navigate throughout the state to efficiently visit clinics.
- Drive up to 250 miles per day.
- Move about truck and clinics including reaching, bending, stooping, crawling, climbing, etc. simultaneous to lifting and moving products and animals in confined space of vehicle.
- Bend at the waist to lean into chest freezers and stretching and reaching into chest freezers to remove and lift deceased animals weighing up to 150 pounds.
- Lift and carry 50-60 pounds repeatedly throughout the workday, in and out of clinics, truck, and VHA offices.
- Regularly climb steps in clinic while simultaneously carrying products and/or animals.
- Operate cell phones and other common office equipment.
- Utilize basic hand tools, including but not limited to, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc. related to performing building maintenance, minor van adjustments, etc.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Pay: From $22.00 per hour
