We’ve got some fantastic content ideas to help you connect with your audience on social media this June! From sharing pet health tips for summer to honoring pets on World Pet Memorial Day, we’ve curated engaging topics that will resonate with your followers. Plus, you’ll find expert tips on optimizing your posts and using storytelling to boost engagement and build trust. Whether you’re a social media veteran or just getting started, our June edition is full of insights to help you shine. Let’s dive in and make this June a month of meaningful connections and valuable engagement with your community!

Monthly Preventative Reminder (June 1st): With summer here and school out, it’s the perfect time for outdoor fun. Don’t forget to remind your clients to protect their pets from fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes! As pets spend more time outside, these pests pose a greater risk. Remind your clients about the importance of preventative measures and share some helpful tips to keep their pets safe and healthy.

Pet Appreciation Week (June 2nd – June 8th): Dedicate this week to showcasing essential elements of successful veterinary social media. Educate your audience with informative posts, entertain them with in-clinic photos of beloved pets, and engage them by asking how they show appreciation to their pets!

National Hug Your Cat Day (June 4th): Engage with your cat-owning clients by encouraging them to share selfies of themselves snuggling their feline friends. Remind clients that while not all feline friends enjoy a snuggle-sesh, they can give their beloved cats their own custom version of a hug like an extra treat or two, or some good quality chin scratchies!

National Corgi Day (June 4th): With their fluffy butts and adorable short legs, corgis are absolutely the cutest! Celebrate Corgi Day by showcasing some of our corgi and corgi mix patients. Add some fun facts about the breed too—here are a few of our favorites:

  • There are two types of Corgis: Pembroke Welsh Corgi and Cardigan Welsh Corgi.
  • The name “Corgi” is Welsh: “Cor” means dwarf and “Gi” means dog, so, “Dwarf Dog”!
  • According to Welsh folklore, fairies used to ride corgis as their trusted steeds or have them pull their fairy coaches!

National Best Friends Day (June 8th): Celebrate the special bond between pets and their best friends. Encourage clients to share heartwarming photos of their pets with their closest companions, whether humans, furry buddies, or even a beloved stuffed toy.

World Pet Memorial Day (June 11th): Create a compassionate space for pet owners to remember and honor their beloved companions who have crossed the rainbow bridge. Craft a thoughtful message and invite clients to share stories and photos, fostering healing and community support. We also encourage you to share our pet memorial page with your clients – a free and supportive space for pet owners to create a loving tribute to their gone, but not forgotten friends: https://veterinaryha.org/in-memoriam/

Father’s Day (June 16th): Pay tribute to all the amazing dads and father figures out there!

Take Your Cat to Work Day (June 17th): If you have a clinic cat, seize the opportunity to highlight their contributions to the clinic. Describe their “on-the-job” duties, such as official treat tester, client greeter, or seat warmer, and share photos of them in action.

Eat Your Vegetables Day (June 17th): Okay, hear us out… this is a great opportunity to once again highlight safe vs. toxic veggies! Create an image that shows what is safe and typically well enjoyed by pets and what is unsafe for them.

Take Your Pet To Work Week (June 17th–21st): Give your clients valuable information by highlighting tips to keep pets safe and comfortable in an office environment if their office is pet-friendly! Drive engagement on the post by asking clients to show off their pet putting in hard work at the home office, or on the job!

First Day of Summer (June 20th): The first day of a new season is a great time to spread awareness about seasonal safety reminders, and a great time to engage your clients by asking them what activities with their pet they are looking forward to most this summer!

National Selfie Day (June 21st): Who doesn’t love a selfie!? Encourage your clients to grab a quick selfie with their pet and share it in the comments of your post!

National Hydration Day (June 23rd): Provide valuable information on keeping pets hydrated during the hot months ahead. Share tips for increasing hydration, guidelines on monitoring water intake, and the importance of staying hydrated for pet health.

Cat World Domination Day (June 24th): Engage your audience by asking what laws they think would be in place if cats ruled the world. Encourage clients to share their humorous and creative responses.

National Insurance Awareness Day (June 28th): Take some time to talk about something that’s increasingly important—pet insurance! Have a chat with your clients about which pet insurance plans you recommend, how they work, and why they’re such a helpful safeguard for their furry family members.

National Social Media Day (June 30th): Celebrate the impact of social media on communication and interaction. Engage your audience by seeking their input on what they enjoy seeing on your clinic’s social media. Express gratitude to your clients for their support, comments, shares, and reviews, emphasizing the importance of their online presence for promoting their neighborhood vet clinic and in turn, promoting community pet health!

There are lots of monthly observances to sprinkle into your calendar! Here are some awesome ideas:

Adopt-A-Cat Month and Social PETworking Month: These two observances can be seamlessly tied together. Social PETworking utilizes social media platforms to connect pets in need with loving homes. Collaborate with a local shelter or rescue organization to help promote their available cats during Adopt-A-Cat Month. It’s the perfect opportunity to showcase the adorable feline friends seeking their forever families!

National Microchipping Month: While microchips are crucial year-round, June provides an excellent opportunity to emphasize their importance. Since you’ve already covered National Chip Your Pet Month last month, you can further elaborate on the topic or reshare the valuable information you shared in May. Highlight the benefits of microchipping and how it helps reunite lost pets with their owners.

National Pet Preparedness Month: Take this chance to educate pet owners on the essential steps they need to take to prepare for potential emergencies. Tailor your content to the specific challenges your area may face, such as tornadoes, hurricanes, or earthquakes. Share tips on creating emergency kits, evacuation plans, and keeping pets safe during disasters.

Summer Safety Considerations: As the summer season kicks off, pet owners need to be aware of various safety considerations. Create a comprehensive blog post that covers a range of topics, such as swim safety, hot pavement precautions, and protecting pets from heatstroke. Compile all the necessary information in one place, and use it as a resource for posting on these specific topics throughout the summer.

As A Reminder…Fireworks are just around the corner and July 4th will sneak up on you and pet owners alike! Remind clients at some point in June that if their pet had a hard time with the festivities last year, medication might be necessary to keep them and others safe. It’s also a good time to remind clients that if they want to try calming aids like Purina Calming Care, or Adaptil/Feliway, these products take time to work and take full effect!
