The Externship program is a vital part of the learning experience of our senior veterinary students. Up to this point they have been provided basic knowledge through didactic teaching, limited clinical and laboratory experiences and study. They now need, and are so eager to learn, the necessary clinical skills associated with diagnosis, treatment and, where indicated, surgery.
Another important aspect of veterinary practice is the economics of veterinary medicine and the management of the practice. Learning in a practice setting is so much more effective than basic classroom lectures and practice exercises than we can provide at the college that we hope you will take time to acquaint them with that facet of veterinary practice.
